Who's Behind The Bali Files

The Bali Files is run by a single investor who put $500,000 into three separate off-the-plan developments in Bali — not a commentator looking in from outside, but someone who actually signed the contracts and wired the money.

I did my own research, believed the promises on the brochures, and went in with my eyes open. Two years on: one property is delivering a fraction of the promised return with reviews describing rats on-site, a second is performing better but still nowhere near what was promised, and a third — six to ten months overdue — isn't even half-built, with the developer gone completely silent, even to the sales channel I bought through. That experience is what this site is built on.

I'm not a journalist, and this isn't an investigative outlet — it's a warning, written by someone who lived through the buying process and has since spent time turning what I learned into something useful for other buyers and sellers considering the same market.

Why I don't name myself or the developer

I'd prefer to name the specific business involved, both for transparency and to protect future buyers more directly. I haven't, because Indonesia's defamation and electronic information laws (UU ITE) create real legal exposure for naming a developer directly, even truthfully. Read more on my homepage.

What I stand behind

Every specific claim on this site is based on my direct experience and, where relevant, documentation I retain. The general guidance across my red flags, ownership structures, developer vetting, and selling pages reflects patterns I've seen repeatedly across the market, not a single incident.

If you've had a similar experience investing in or selling Bali or Indonesian property, I'd like to hear from you — get in touch.

Disclaimer: The Bali Files is dedicated to transparency and warning Australian investors about the realities of the Indonesian off-the-plan property market. All claims are based on my direct experience and publicly available journalistic investigations, and nothing on this site constitutes legal or financial advice.
